Happy New Year!
Well, I guess it's time to start looking at this off-season's league-changing moves that most impact our teams. There are lot still to happen but might as well get started since players have been moving like crazy!

Mike: Dancin' Homers/Burninators
AL to NL: Pedro Martinez, Tim Hudson, Carlos Beltran possibly (or if he signs after Scoresheet's lists come out).
Impact: Well, that sucks. The opposite of last year when Brown/Vazquez went to the AL, except that I want to keep Pedro and Hud. Starting pitching will be in short supply for quality of holds on the Burninators. After Halladay and Santana, is anyone worth holding? Carlos Silva? John Lackey? Wil Ledezma?? If Beltran moves to the NL, that might be enough to drop the Burninators chances of repeating as division champs.
NL to AL: Jason Kendall, possibly Eric Milton.
Impact: Michael Barrett actually outplayed Kendall last year and is younger. Barring injury, Kendall doesn't displace Victor Martinez, so it's probably trade time for Yo Yo Yo or maybe a hold of a backup catcher. Is that a first? Homers get stronger after second best No Glory record ever.

Ken: Gas House Gang/Cursed Bambinos
AL to NL: Mark Mulder, possibly Estaban Loaiza.
Impact: Mulder was offal in the second half last year and they still won, but it's still a hit to their pitching, yet it is offset by...
NL to AL: Carl Pavano, Dustin Hermanson(?), possibly Odalis Perez.
Impact: Pavano+Perez > Mulder+Loaiza. Though if Ken ditches Pavano the Yankee, all the better for his AL division rivals.

Slave: Rabid Woofers/Bingo's Fuzzy Puppies
AL to NL: Possibly Javy Vazquez.
Impact: Maybe one in the future but probably not now, if the rumors hold true and a deal includes the Unit coming to the AL. If Vazquez leaves but no Unit, Slave has plenty of untried but true young arms to hold.
NL to AL: Richard Hidalgo, Ivan Rodriguez, Scott Kazmir, possibly Randy Johnson.
Impact: Pudge might finally play in the Scoresheet league that matches his real league! Hidalgo in Texas will be nice for a Puppy team with a weak outfield. The Woofers look like they will need to make some trades - they've got several 3B in Wright, Chipper, and Burroughs and are now missing a catcher. Jose Reyes only played 10 games at SS last year which normally wouldn't qualify him for 2005, but if the Mets are public about moving him back to SS, Scoresheet might put him there to start the season. Otherwise, Slave has some middle-infield clumping problems too.

Carl: Cholesterol Kings/Highway Kind
AL to NL: Jon Lieber, Victor Zambrano
Impact: Well, they were probably the Kind's #1 and #2 starters (excepting maybe Rich Harden) heading into 2005 with a lot of big inning, big ERA guys behind him - Moyer, Colon, Contreras - so that kind of hurts.
NL to AL: Adrian Beltre, Edgar Renteria, Wade Miller
Impact: But this hurts an owner that was strong on the left side of the infield in both leagues. Carl will likely have to make some deals in the AL or pull a juggling act to get Renteria, Tejada, Beltre, Blalock all into the lineup. Miller is a definite hold for the Kind even though his season is in question this year.

Randy: Soko Atarijin/TriBonds
AL to NL: Jose Guillen
Impact: TriBonds had not much depth in the OF, especially with Erstad moving to first, so this hurts. Losing Jose Guillen really shouldn't hurt, though.
NL to AL: Matt Clement, David Wells
Coors to NL: Jeromy Burnitz, Vinny Castilla, Royce Clayton
Impact: There is room for Guillen in a CF-less OF that Randy often favors. It's tough to lose your only two sub-5.00 ERA starters, though. The TriBonds rotation now might be best in the league. Hopefully Randy won't notice the exodus of his over-rated players from Colorado.

Lou: Crooked K's/Whistles Go Woo
AL to NL: Nomar Garciaparra, Troy Glaus, Mark Redman
Impact: Maybe Lou and Carl could work out a trade of portside infields. The Whistles Go Ow this off-season.
NL to AL: Juan Cruz
Impact: The influx of players comes where the K's are already covered well - Ramirez and Furcal. A trade probably needs to happen here but Beltre/Renteria for Nomar/Glaus probably isn't good enough to satisfy Carl.

Matt: Smoking Guns/Errant Shadows
AL to NL: Joe Randa
Impact: None. The Shadows already have Corey Koskie and the Guns have Mike Lowell.
NL to AL: Richie Sexson
Impact: Replacing the execrable Ken Harvey with Sexson will only help the Shadows. The Guns can deal with the loss from the flexibility of having Shawn Green and Chase Utley being able to play multiple positions next year.

Jeff: Autoexec.Batsmen/Wookies
AL to NL: Milton Bradley
Impact: Wookies and Batsmen can just trade center fielders.
NL to AL: Steve Finley, Orlando Cabrera, possibly Kevin Millwood
Impact: It won't be the first time the Batsmen haven't held a shortstop and the Wookies had nothing there. Millwood to the AL only means a lowering of the collective run scoring in the No Glory league.
